Chemistry Season - Discover How Science Is Used In The Scientific Process
Chemistry Season - Discover How Science Is Used In The Scientific ProcessEach year, Chemistry Season on the Discovery Channel is your ticket to explore the newest forms of science. In addition to seeing actual experiments in action, you can also see how the scientists work behind the scenes and discover how they use various types of media and tools to explain the process in a creative way. Learning how to make a spark, trying an experiment in an aquarium or learning about blood in wine all play an important role in the show. You will see science experiments happen onscreen, as well as behind the scenes, and this is what makes Chemistry Season such a worthwhile viewing experience.Chemistry Season 1 included two brand new experiments that showed how certain types of coffee react when placed inside a coffee pot. The colors that came from the coffee turned a slightly dark shade of green, but turned the same shade when these glasses were left to sit in the brew pot. As soon as viewers fou nd out what these coffee mixtures did, they could see the different types of reactions that took place. The other experiment involves testing laboratory animals. When the petri dish was exposed to different types of chemicals, the chemicals affected the creatures differently. This experiment was used to show that different types of chemicals can affect some living things differently. The third experiment involved how lab equipment affected the media. They wanted to know how simple things like a television set could affect different types of experiments. Scientists were able to find out how certain lighting impacted the television setting to change the visual effects of the experiment. The next experiment involved testing the ability of an animal to consume a sticky substance, but they wanted to see how much of a challenge it would be for lab animals to drink juice. What they discovered was that while eating fruit, laboratory animals had a hard time digesting the liquid. This was the mo st interesting experiment that was found.Next, they tested lab equipment in order to see if some instruments needed to be replaced more often than others. Some of the instruments are heavy, so there are more replacements that need to be purchased. As a result, this test showed how everything in the lab works together and then furthers tests will help researchers make more discoveries. The next experiment showed how science is used in the scientific process. Scientists took cells from pigs and tried to see if the pig cells would develop cancer when exposed to radiation. They were then able to see how different methods in testing and developing new drugs worked. With each of the experiments on Chemistry Season, scientists try to get to the root of problems and provide answers. It is rare to find a show that is entertaining and educational all at the same time. By watching this one episode, viewers will learn how to make a flower bloom, how many different types of foods are out there, an d how scientists are able to help us understand all of this.

Federal Education Spending Fails To Prevent Dropping Skill Levels and Wage Gap
Federal Education Spending Fails To Prevent Dropping Skill Levels and Wage Gap While the Federal Department of Education spends huge amounts of dollars in the national education in failed to prevent a drop in skill levels and a widening of the wage gap. In 2014, the Federal Education spending totaled a whopping $140 billion, which is a 12% of the entire federal budget or 6% of our national income (GDP). Given this substantial investment, the question is how much progress has been made in education? In this article we like to measure this progress in education against the 2007 article Americas Perfect Storm released by the Education Testing Service (ETS). This company tested the aptitudes of millions of Americans by means of the the SAT, GRE, AP and TOEFL standardized test. In the article, the ETS identified three main challenges that would shape the knowledge-based jobs in the US and with it our ability to compete in the global economy. These three challenges are: 1. Drop in skill levels, especially in reading and math. 2. A widening of the wage gap. 3. Demographic shifts, that is less education. 1. Disparities in Skill Levels In a study conducted by the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) and the NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress) test scores between American, Canadian, Chinese and Korean students was compared in the time frame from 2003 to 2012. The test scores of Chinese and Korean students increased from an normalized store of 550 to 561 and 542 to 552, respectively. In the same interval test scores of American students declined from 483 to 481. See picture below. This alarming result poses a clear threat to the US because it has the highest inequality gap in skills, especially in math and reading and â" that is, across US student and adult populations, the gap between our most and our least proficient is the highest of any of the OECD countries. The ETS report names three factors that might have caused this skill drop. A prolonged recession, rising automation and competition from overseas. 2. Widening of the Wage Gap Today an estimated 48% American college grads work in work in jobs that did not require a college degree. Back in 2000, the ETS expected 66% of all job growth to come from college jobs. Today it is the non-college jobs which account for the major part of employment growth of Americans. The unemployment and underemployment rates are a part of the ETS report. In 2014, the unemployment rate was 8.5% of recent college grads and the underemployment rate skyrocketed to a 16.8%. In comparison these numbers were 5.1% and 10.5% back in 1995, respectively. The Americas Perfect Storm publication blames the technology and outsourcing for this trend. Me as a part-time economist would add that skyrocketing debt, legal hazard and a entitlement thinking significantly contribute to the ongoing loss of our competitiveness. 3. Demographic Shifts The good news is that the US population is expected to grow 20% until 2030. In comparison, the populations of Europe and Eastern Europe are stagnating or shrinking. However, earlier population growth was fueled by a positive birth rate of Americans (larger than 2.1 children per couple). The future population growth mainly comes from the immigration of Hispanics. Often thely lack high-school diplomas and many do not speak English well or at all. How will they fare in the US workforce? While it is that investment in education is a primary driver in the US economy. However, this substantial investment has failed to yield the expected results. Our US economy is loosing ground against overseas competition. A former president Ronald Reagan once said. I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead. I personally share the optimistic sentiment of this quote. Why? Because Americas bright entrepreneurs will find solutions to this crisis in education. We at TutorZ play our part in providing affordable quality tutoring to American students.
English-Language Anime Translator
English-Language Anime TranslatorThere are so many ways to learn Japanese with an anime royal tutor. But if you want to make the most of it, it is important that you get your anime experience as good as possible by getting an English-language anime translator. A good anime translation company will not only help you learn the language but also have a good grasp of the anime industry, so that you can navigate through the jungle of different regions, take on roles that are just as exciting as that of the major Japanese productions, and have a strong work ethic to boot.A Japanese anime royal tutor has to deal with a big range of people and it would be a shame if you were one of the few who got the full effect. Japanese people are social creatures, but the thing about them is that they like their special customs, traditions, and regional idioms. They will do anything they can to protect their family from foreigners who wish to displace them.Anime is the mainstream product in Japan right n ow. It is difficult to imagine a whole group of people sitting down and enjoying their favourite show without somebody else beside them, chatting away about the technicalities of the plot, the detail in which the actors acted, the costumes they wore, the sounds of the actors made, and how real the anime characters really looked. However, it would be impossible to watch all of the great movies that are made each year without getting yourself immersed in the native culture.Anime is so popular here in Japan that there are even dedicated anime movie clubs. So, if you are interested in a career in anime, there are a few choices that you could make. You could either choose to become a manga artist, get a job in the anime industry, or become a translator.Manga artists make their living drawing manga about pop idols, sports stars, women and men of various background and age. Their work can be the basis for a full-length movie or TV series. anime The job of an anime translator is a little mo re complicated. You would translate the text in manga into words that the English speaking public can understand. A translator is usually hired by an animation studio to do this job, or is sometimes hired as a freelancer by other companies who want to use Japanese translators in a more formal manner. If you have a degree in English or linguistics, you may be able to get a job in this field. If you want to learn more about anime, there are a number of good places that will offer you a hands-on experience. If you are lucky enough to be able to take an anime class at an international school, you will be able to immerse yourself in the culture and learn all the jargon that comes with the Japanese language. The Ten Best Tips and Tricks for Learning Guitar Chords
The Ten Best Tips and Tricks for Learning Guitar Chords Suzy S. Ready to learn guitar chords? Guitar teacher Joe H. shares his secrets to mastering guitar chords The guitar is incredibly versatile accompaniment instrument. It can deliver many effects, from driving strumming to delicate fingerpicking. It is essential that a guitarist have a solid vocabulary of chords to draw from to do this. Letâs be honest for moment: There are hundreds of chords! The good news is that some are more essential than others (more on that later). The following ten tips and tricks for learning guitar chords should help get them in your head and under your fingers in no time! 1. Have a Plan When you are just starting to learn chords it is important to make a practice plan. You will want to look honestly at the time you have each week to dedicate to practicing and choose realistic goals for yourself. You may choose to try to learn three new chords a week (a reasonable goal for beginners), maybe five, or maybe even just one. The most vital thing is that you set a goal based on your personal learning style and current abilities! 2. Have Excellent Resources When learning anything, itâs very important to have reliable sources. Ask a friend or even better, a guitar teacher, for some recommendations. Most beginner guitar method books have a limited chord resource in the back that can help you begin. Once you progress beyond the basic chords however, you will definitely want to invest in a more advanced resource such as a chord dictionary where you can find just about any chord you could imagine! 3. Learn to Read Chord Diagrams Chord diagrams (a.k.a. chord charts) are visual representations of a portion of the guitar neck in which all the information necessary to learn a chord can be written. These are the most common and useful way of quickly notating chords so we can instantly relate them to the guitar. They are a must! 4. Start with Open Chords Open chords are essential knowledge for all aspiring guitarists. These are chords in which one or more of the strings are played open (without being fretted). Because we donât need to push down all of the notes in the chord it can be easier to get a clear sound as opposed to chords with no open strings. 5. Know What You Need To Know It is important when you are deciding to learn guitar chords that you know what types of chords will lend themselves to the type of music in which you are interested. For instance, styles such as folk, pop and rock will stick with mostly with open and barre forms of major, minor and some basic seventh chords. Styles such as jazz and progressive rock require a more extensive understanding and knowledge of extended chords such as major, minor and dominant 9th, 11th and 13th chords and their many variations. 6. Make Sure You Are Practicing Correctly You are going to want to make sure you build good habits when practicing chords. Just because your fingers are in the correct places does not mean you will be sounding the chord correctly. You can assess this by playing each string in the chord one at a time and listening for muffled or muted notes. If you hear a note that sounds incorrectly, you will want to adjust your fingers. Remember it is important to push the fingertip straight into the fretboard whenever possible to prevent accidentally muting strings adjacent to those intended. You can always move your thumb further down the back of the neck to help your fingers more easily hold down the upper strings at the proper angles. 7. Understand Movable Shapes: Barre Chords Keep in mind that any chord shape you learn that does not contain any open strings (barre chords) can be moved and used as the same type of chord except under a different root (The note a chord is named after). For instance, if you move every note in an F Major Barre Chord up 2 frets from the 1st the 3rd fret, that same shape now lets you play a G Major Chord. If this is lost on you at the moment, check out tip #9! 8. Give Context To What You are Learning Make sure you pick out some songs that interest you and will really motivate you to learn. Finding songs that you like with chords you havenât learned yet is a great way to stay on the path and keep yourself driving forward! 9. Learn Some Music Theory Having even a basic understanding of how chords are built will help you figure out how to play chords without needing a resource to show you. Music theory empowers you to not be just a guitarist but a full-blown musician as well! 10. Find a Great Teacher Truly the best approach to learn chords is to have an excellent teacher to teach you in a way custom tailored to you! With these ten tips in mind, remember: the secret to learning guitar chords is repetition. Try to play your newest chords at least a couple times each day or at least every time you pick up the guitar. Good luck! Looking for a guitar teacher who can help you learn guitar chords? Find Out the Secrets of the Top Music Bloggers
Find Out the Secrets of the Top Music Bloggers Suzy S. Do you have a music blog, or aspire to start one? Whether youre hoping to get into music journalism or if you simply want to publish concert album reviews for your friends, blogging is a great way to sound off on all things music. But if you want to become the next hot music blogger, youll need to get ahead of the pack. Just being a music fan isnt enough these days, so check out these industry secrets (courtesy of Mashable.com) to get you on your way 1. Hot For Teacher Yes, it seems like a rather obvious tip, but to write about music, you need to know about music â"- and not just the vinyl in your own record collection. Andrew Phillips, former editor in chief of MOG, advises: âListen to an inconceivable amount of music, especially if you donât like it. Thereâs a huge difference between being a music fan and a music advocateâ¦. The most effective bloggers (and writers) are the ones drawing from a genuinely deep well of knowledge.â And donât limit the fact-finding mission to sitting in your room like a tragically hip, headphoned Boo Radley â"- go to shows. Go to âgoodâ shows, bad shows, basement shows, loft shows, shows where the only people in the audience are you and the bartender. You never know whoâs going to be the next big thing; as Nicole Wasilewicz, senior music editor of FREEwilliamsburg.com, says, âAs knowledgeable as you may feel about music, thereâs always someone out there thatâs smarter than you and has more time on their hands. Itâs a constant game of catch-up. Also, pay special attention to opening bands.â 2. Cant Buy Me Love So youâre all studied up and ready to write. The only question is: To what illustrious publication should you lend your vast and impressive skills? Well, if youâre skint on experience, chances are that unless youâre that kid from Almost Famous, itâs going to be a while before pubs are going to be beating down your door. And with that, we bring you perhaps the most disdainful piece of advice out there: Write for free. You canât get ahead without clips, and sometimes the payment you receive for said clips is experience and a foothold in the industry. Jason Diamond, editor in chief of Jewcy.com and founding editor of Vol. 1 Brooklyn, says: âIf youâre offered to write a low or non-paying piece by a website that is influential, has a lot of traffic, or you just totally respect, take it.â Now, thatâs not to say you should keep writing, sans cash, indefinitely. But doing some writing for a website you really dig can get you exposure and, subsequently, the momentum you need to launch yourself toward a legit gig. 3. Here I Go Again (On My Own) Still, if you donât want to submit to the wily ways of âthe manâ (i.e. someone elseâs blog), might we suggest you start your own? Really, thereâs no excuse in this day and age for an aspiring blogger to not be in possession of his or her very own URL. Furthermore, once you have your own blog in place, you can either try to leverage it into its own, money-making entity by selling ads, etc., or you use it as a kind of portfolio. You can also form link exchanges with other blogs â"- just shoot the editor an e-mail â"- which will help you build connections in the space, or join a blog aggregator, like MOG. However you use it, itâs as essential for any up-and-coming music blogger to have a domain as it is for him or her to have ears. Whatever your goals may be with your music blog, make sure to have fun with it! Write about what you love and let your personality shine. Whats your favorite music blog to read?
